People & Culture Specialist

Your mission

To support our growing team, we are looking for a People & Culture Specialist to join us. In this role, you will focus on the hands-on operational side of HR, ensuring smooth People operations and supporting the team with day-to-day administrative and HR processes.

You will work closely with founders and leadership to implement HR policies and maintain efficient, compliant HR operations for our German entity.


Responsibilities

  • Manage HR operations for the German entity of turbalance, including employee lifecycle processes like onboarding, performance review, and offboarding.

  • Prepare and manage employment contracts and amendments, ensuring compliance with German labor law and internal policies.

  • Administer the HRIS system (Personio), ensuring accurate employee data, documentation, and workflows.

  • Support employee benefits and leave programs and support related employee communication. 

  • Serve as a liaison for employee matters, proactively addressing concerns and resolving day-to-day and operational challenges

  • Support visa and relocation administration where applicable.

  • Contribute to improving People workflows and operational processes as the company scales.

  • Coordinate pre-payroll and collaborate with external payroll and tax providers.

Your profile

  • 3–5 years of experience in HR operations or People & Culture roles

  • Comfortable managing employment contracts and HR administration

  • Strong knowledge of German labor law and potential compliance issues.

  • Highly resourceful self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment while remaining organized with strong attention to detail.

  • Experience with HRIS systems (Personio preferred).

  • Fluent in English (business level) and German (C1 or above)

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting international teams in on-site, hybrid and remote environments

  • Interest in initiating People programs, employee experience, and culture initiatives

  • Familiarity with DEI initiatives

  • Experience working with external recruitment agencies and managing international employment structures via EORs

This is a hybrid position based in or near Heidelberg, combining regular on-site collaboration with flexible remote work.
